Descriere

"Starchitecture" by Davide Ponzini and Michele Nastasi provides an in-depth exploration of the concept of "starchitecture," a term that denotes the high-profile, often celebrity-like status of certain contemporary architects whose innovative and visually striking designs have become significant cultural phenomena. This book critically examines how these star architects, through their distinctive and sometimes extravagant projects, contribute to the transformation of urban environments. It highlights how such architecture not only redefines city skylines but also influences social and economic structures within these urban spaces. By analyzing various case studies and providing detailed critiques, Ponzini and Nastasi shed light on the broader implications of star architects' work, including its impact on architectural practice, urban planning, and public perception. The book also addresses the ways in which the media and public fascination with these architectural icons can both positively and negatively affect the cities they design for, offering a comprehensive view of the complex interplay between high-profile architecture and urban development.
