Descriere

German Submarine U-1105 'Black Panther' was a Type VIIC/41 U-boat of Nazi Germany's Kriegsmarine during World War II. It was captured by the United States Navy on May 9, 1945, and designated as U-1105. Renamed as the USS U-1105, it was used for various naval experiments, including testing new sonar and anti-submarine warfare tactics. The vessel was eventually sunk as a target in 1949. Aaron Stephan Hamilton, an American naval historian, extensively researched and documented the history of U-1105 and its crew, shedding light on its operational details, technological innovations, and the experiences of those who served aboard it. Hamilton's work significantly contributed to the broader understanding of submarine warfare during World War II and the post-war technological advancements in naval warfare.
