Descriere

From the Margins reexamines Lee Krasner (1908-1984) and Norman Lewis (1909-1979), two vital yet often overlooked figures in Abstract Expressionism. Krasner, typically known as Jackson Pollock's wife, and Lewis, an African American artist, have not received their due recognition. This book highlights their shared artistic qualities, including pictographic elements and allover patterns, by juxtaposing their works to reveal their visual and conceptual connections.

The introductory essay explores the challenges they faced in a predominantly white male art world, addressing themes of identity and marginalization. This book reaffirms the significance of Krasner and Lewis, offering a crucial contribution to the study of modern art.
