This book presents the work of artist Marjorie Strider.Pop art has usually been considered a males-only playground. As with the arts movements that preceded it, women artists who participated were considered mere consorts, pale shadows of their male partners. In a recent survey of pop art, only one painting out of 200 shown was painted by a female painter. Only now is their contribution being reevaluated. Marjorie Strider is one of the most important artists of that period who work is being reconsidered. Marjorie Strider emerged on the New York art scene in the mid-1960’s when her carved and painted wood panels of 3-D girls in bikinis were shown in the Pace Gallery show entitled “The First International Girlie Show”, which also included paintings by Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, and Tom Wesselman.
Această carte prezintă lucrările artistei Marjorie Strider. Arta pop a fost mereu considerată terenul sexului masculin. Ca și în cazul mișcărilor artistice anterioare, artistele care au participat nu au fost luate în considerare, reprezentând simple umbre ale partenerilor de sex opus. Într-o recentă cercetare asupra artei pop, doar un tablou din 200 prezentate a fost creat de o femeie. Doar acum contribuția lor este reevaluată. Marjorie Strider face parte din rândul acelor artiști. A apărut pe scena artei din New York la mijlocul anilor 1960 când panourile ei 3D din lemn cu fete în bikini au fost arătate în cadrul show-ului Pace Gallery sub numele de „The First International Girlie Show”, care includea și picturi de Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein și Tom Wesselman.
